The Grapevine is a half hour show about local and sustainable food systems in Hamilton. We host interviews with individuals based in Hamilton and surrounding area who make, eat, grow, sell and talk about local and sustainable food.
Here is our upcoming schedule:
Friday, November 19th: Chris of Manorun Farms. Chris will be talking about his journey from bad food to good food, as well as helping us compile a list of realistic, doable changes that students can make to support local agriculture and food.
Friday November 26th: Caroline, manager of the Ottawa Street Market. Caroline will talking to us about her experiences at the market, including the programming and festivals she puts on, the vendors there as well as the challenges to running a year-round market.
Friday December 3rd: Caffeinated Hamilton: Part 1. We’ll be talking about the history of coffee in Canada, including the influence of Starbucks and Tim Horton’s appeals to national pride on Canadian coffee drinking habits. If we can’t grow coffee locally, how can we best support sustainable, ethical coffee consumption? We’ll be talking with the folks from Red Hill Coffee Trade.
Friday December 10th: Caffeinated Hamilton: Part 2. We’ll be talking coffee with Detour Coffee from Dundas and with Adam, a man with a plan to designate Hamilton as an official Fair Trade City. Also: a look at your cup of coffee from Starbucks, Tim Hortons, Red Hill Coffee Trade, Detour Coffee. What’s in your cup?
