Some great programs coming up from the Royal Botanical Gardens for March:

Incredible Edible – Thu, 10 Mar, 2011 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
What to plant in the vegetable garden can be a challenge every year, but Connie Dam-Byl, with her illustrated talk, describes what is new in vegetables as well as the true and tried varieties. She explains which have the best flavour, are disease resistant, drought tolerant and so much more. Be prepared this summer with a variety of vegetables to make your garden the best ever. MAXIMUM 25. PRE-REGISTER BY MARCH 2.
Location: RBC Centre
Fees: Members: $23.50; Non-members: $28

Irish Beer – Thu, 17 Mar, 2011 7:00 PM – 9:30 PM
In Heaven there is no beer, that is why we drink it here (an Irish toast). This program is for those of you who are Irish and those who aspire to be, or for anyone who likes beer. Irish beer has a long history and Tara Leitch explains the ups and downs of brewing this popular beverage. Sample, compare and discuss nine different beers. We promise there won’t be a green beer on site but certainly lots of good ole Irish hospitality and fun. MAXIMUM 25. PRE-REGISTER BY MARCH 8.
Location: RBG Centre
Fees:  Members: $40; Non-member: $50

A Taste for the Forest – Sat, 19 Mar, 2011 1:00 PM – 3:00 PM
Just before winter turns into spring, take a hike on the north shore of Cootes Paradise with Tys Theysmeyer and learn about traditional uses of a variety of forest plants. This guided walk is topped off with a sampling of maple sap and syrup. MAXIMUM 25. PRE-REGISTER BY MARCH 11.
Location: Meet at the Nature Centre
Fees: Members: $8 (family rate $20); Non-members $10 (family rate $25)

Fruit Trees For The Backyard – Tue, 22 Mar, 2011 7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
When it comes to gardens we often think just vegetables but why not fruit trees, bushes and vines. There are many varieties suited to the small backyard that provide lots of fruit all through the summer. Helen Fisher helps you with varieties to choose, routine maintenance, problems and solutions, pests and diseases and more. MAXIMUM 20. PRE-REGISTER BY MARCH 14.
Location: RBG Centre
Fees: Members: $23.50; Non-members: $28

To register for any of the programs just visit the RBG site.
